Morocco : Overview
The North African country of Morocco is the epicenter of North Atlantic fall and winter ground swell activity with a peak surfing season spanning from October to April. Whereas Western Europe receives the brunt of North Atlantic cold fronts, gale force winds, and freezing water temperatures, Morocco receives only ground swells, coupled with seasonal water temperatures (mid 60s to low 70s in fall-winter), desert sun, and some of the best righthand pointbreaks in the world.

In Central Morocco, the Taghazoute area faces directly NW and to the South it nestles behind a huge cape, which funnels the consistent North winds into an offshore direction. These elements coupled with flat rock and sand points, easily accessible waves on good roads, balmy winter land temperatures, and mind-blowing cultural diversity makes for a truly exotic surf trip.

The Taghazoute area is the focus of Wavehunters Moroccan surf tours for which we have teamed up with local operator Surf Maroc, managed by British expatriate surfers Ben O’Hara and Ollie Boswell, to offer a first class surfing tour and experience worthy of a Wavehunters signature product with personal fully-guided 4x4 surfing tours to all area breaks, and luxury standard accommodation at Tigger's Bay Apartments including Private Surf Access to La Source, Killer’s, and Mysteries, and the best in local cuisine.
A relatively novel destination for American surfers, Central Morocco has long been a staple of the European surfing experience (Europe’s Baja) with a reputation for hardcore tent and campervan safari style surf travel. However, recent infrastructure improvements including luxury apartment development at the surf-front, and improvements to roads, local infrastructure, and an overall receptiveness to Western tourists, has elevated Central Morocco to an international class surfing destination.
Wavehunters-Surf Maroc surf tours are from sunrise to sunset. Our 4x4's and guides are dedicated to getting you to the right spot at the right time. No limits on the number of trips per day, if the surf's good we go. And it’s all included in the price.

Taghazout is located approximately 50 minutes NW of the Agadir International Airport and airport greeting and roundtrip transfers are included in our tour packages.
Flying to Morocco from the United States is relatively uncomplicated and largely inexpensive since the surf season overlaps with low season airline travel to Europe (the exception being the Christmas/New Years holidays). Wavehunters can make all necessary arrangements. Royal Air Maroc is our primary carrier offering regular jet service into Agadir.
Royal Air Maroc has daily evening flights from JFK to Casablanca and down to Agadir. This makes a relatively easy connecting flight for any discount domestic carrier from anywhere in the US. On the backend of your trip there are midday arrivals back in to JFK, again making for a seamless transition on to a domestic carrier.
