The Nusantara is a 2001, 70ft custom power catamaran that was designed and built by owner-operators Adam Kranz, Reggie Pennell, +- and Rob Morris specifically for Indonesian surf charters. “Nusantara” means the Indonesian archipelago which includes the entire island chain of the country. Powered by twin 420hp Cummins turbo diesel engines, and with its hyperlight design and a draft of only 3 feet, the Nusantara is the fastest surf charter vessel operating in the Mentawai islands. She has a top speed of 28 knots, with an average daytime cruising speed of 20-24 knots depending on conditions, and a nighttime cruising speed of 10-12 knots (for safety). Nusantara’s catamaran hull design provides stability at sea and eliminates rock and roll at anchor.



Nusantara’s speed provides its guests with a tremendous tactical advantage in being able to minimize travel time and maximize surfing time throughout the trip, enjoying surf at the lesser-known remote and isolated locations. Nusantara has a range of 1000nm and does not require refueling in the course of a trip even with significant motoring around at high speeds throughout the Mentawais chain.






Nusantara is equipped with state of the art safety and navigational equipment including GPS, radar, depth sounder and SSB radio. Nusantara has a Satellite phone onboard and remains in constant communication with Wavehunters’ office for regular swell and wind updates provided by Surfline.com & Lola and Buoy Weather.com.

Nusantara offers fully air-conditioned accommodations for up to ten surfers and is fully air-conditioned and carpeted throughout her interior. Her onboard features and amenities include:
- Ten sleeping berths including two double cabins. All berths offer full seating headroom and windows to the outside.
- Main saloon providing panoramic views with seating for everyone.
- Entertainment center provides VHS, Sony big screen TV for DVD movie viewing and Playstation.
- Stereo for CD music and ipod compitable
- Complete refrigeration and freezer system for fresh food and beverage service.
- Shaded 330 square ft. aft deck, includes; galley, BBQ, and dining area.
- Watermaker: 1500 liters/day capacity
- Bathroom with fresh, hot water shower.
- Two fresh water showers on stern swim steps.
- 12 ft. inflatable with 30 hp Yamaha outboard.

NEW FOR 2005:
Nusantara has undergone another major renovation during the off-season. She is now equiped with a custom teek floor and a brand new upgraded kitchen. She also has a new custom surf rack to hold up to 30 boards out of the sun. All the interior has been replaced along with an upgraded ac system. They've added a custom deck up top behind the wheel house in addition to a large canopy to keep out the sun. In the wheel house they have added a special sattelite phone to send out emails and receive faxes along with free incoming phone calls. Recently, they installed a new water maker to make you feel right at home. They just did a full overhall on both generators, as well as both engines to provide all of our clients the trip of a lifetime.
