Sa'Moana Resort : The Resort

The perfect mix for family/surf holidays

Sa'Moana Resort caters for up to 26 guests in quality fales (bungalows) with private facilities. The fales are simple, comfortable and fan-cooled. If you are looking for a 5 star resort with air conditioning, cable TV, luxury linen etc then Sa'Moana may not be for you. At Sa'Moana Resort all fales are absolute beachfront with magnificent views over the lagoon. The fales' high ceilings and louvre windows capture the ocean breezes and ensure good ventilation.

The resort is ideally suited to couples and families or mature age surfers who are looking for a relaxed holiday in paradise with the possibility of a daily surf trip. Sa’Moana offers a very personalized holiday experience, unlike most large resorts. All staff (other than management) are from the local Salamumu village and this ensures that you experience traditional Samoan hospitality during your stay.

Oceanfront Fales (Bungalows) are configured as follows:

Pool View Fale: 1 x standard "Pool View" double fale' with interior bathroom.

Hibiscus Fale: Queen Bed or 2 Singles:
1 x quad share "Hibiscus" fale' (1 double bed and 2 singles or 4 single beds) with interior bathroom

Family Fale: 2 x "Family" fale's with mezzanine double bedroom and downstairs 4 single beds with interior bathroom

Frangipani Fale's: 2 x Superior "Frangipani" fale's with 1 x double and 1 x single bed with an amazing tropical outdoor private bathroom. These two fales share a common Deck Area and are popular for couples traveling together or families where mum & dad want that extra privacy

Alofa Fale: 1 x Alofa Fale suite - queen bed only. This fale is more upmarket and has a variety of extras including TV/DVD, lounge area and interior bathroom.

Due to the effect of tides and wind on the surf conditions in Samoa it is usually impossible to surf all day. If your main holiday objective is to surf all day every day then Samoa may not be the destination for you. On most days a 3-5 hour surf trip departs early morning and returns before lunch, then there is the possibilty of surfing directly out front of the resort later in the day.

Fale Aiga: is the main bar and restaurant area and has been constructed as the central relaxation house with panoramic views over the south shore’s spectacular coastline. Decked out with a huge undercover front deck for dining and relaxing, a lounge featuring TV, video, stereo, pool table and games/book library plus a fully stocked bar, this is the ultimate place to kick back after a rewarding surf or a day's sightseeing.

Equipment for activities such as snorkelling, canoeing/kayaking, cricket, football, volleyball and basic fishing are provided free of charge.

The restaurant-quality cuisine is prepared in an innovative style and features the finest fresh produce including fresh local fish, imported prime NZ beef etc.

  • Breakfast consists of fresh fruit, cereals, toast plus a large selection of hot dishes (any style of eggs with bacon etc).
  • Lunch is usually a fantastic buffet with a vast selection of salads, cold meats, fresh pastries, pasta dishes, snack menu etc.
  • Dinner is a la carte five nights per week with a great variety of entrees, mains and desserts.

Traditional Samoan Fia Fia evening feasts are held most weeks with local musicians and dancers from the village performing traditional shows. There is also a weekly "cook your own" Aussie barbecue night.

Staff : The staff at Sa'Moana Resort are a great team ready to cater for your needs and really make you feel welcome. Read on some info about your hosts and surf guides.

Co - Owner / General Manager Paul Robertson has been involved from conception day one along with close friend George Leslie. 'The two of us discussed for many years the idea of creating a "Sa'Moana Resort"  and eventually we did something positive about that and began building in July 98'. Both hailing from building back grounds helped greatly with design and construction so combined with years of traveling and research the labour of love was made more easy. Since that day Paul has Managed the resort and more recently as the resort has grown so has the need to hire Management Teams to assist in the day to day operation. Though he has stepped back slightly he keeps closely involved with all facets of the business on a daily basis.
