Samana Chakra is a beautiful oceanfront property located on the sand in sunny Máncora. Our 9 villas each have their own personality, and our retreat offers the perfect balance of tranquility and excitement. While Samana Chakra is likely one of the most romantic places you’ll visit in your life, we are also very kid friendly, so it’s a great place to visit with the entire family. Each villa features an outdoor bathroom with 24-hour hot water, where you’ll feel like you’re bathing directly under a warm water waterfall. All of our villas have one King or Queen bed, along with an extra day bed for an afternoon lounge, or to use as an extra bed for the kids. An outdoor terrace complete with bamboo lounge chairs offers your own private oasis to enjoy a book or just a quiet afternoon of watching the surf in front.

The point in Máncora is a quick ten minute walk for the best surfing in Máncora. The beach right in front of Samana Chakra offers smaller waves, that are perfect for a dip in the ocean after breakfast. We have a large sandy beach that is kid friendly- buckets and other beach tools included for building an award worthy sandcastle! We can also arrange baby sitting services in case you are interested in a night out on the town without the little one’s!

After a long day of surfing, join us in our restaurant to feast on freshly caught tuna, seared to perfection, and drizzled with a passion fruit salsa, accompanied by local Peruvian delights like yucca and camote. A crisp, cold beer or glass of wine adds the finishing touch. And don’t forget to try one of Vanesa’s sinful deserts. Our favorite is her chocolate cake, layered with fresh mango mousse. Because of the intimate size of Samana Chakra, we are able to cater to special dietary needs. We serve lots of fresh fish and vegetables, and fruit right off the tree, but can easily accommodate vegetarian or vegan appetites. If you have a special request, just ask us: we’re happy to plan a special meal plan for you.

No trip to Samana Chakra is complete without spending some time in our beautiful open-air yoga shala. The shala offers hard wood floors, with a thatched roof ceiling, open air windows that face towards the mountains, and clear glass doors that open to the sea. You can hear the sound of the ocean as you enjoy your yoga practice. The shala is open to guests for their own yoga practice anytime that we are not holding classes; just visit the front desk to reserve a time slot. We also offer daily classes Monday-Saturday at 5:00 PM free of charge to our hotel guests. We have teachers that rotate through Samana Chakra for several months at a time and have been blessed to offer classes in the Iyengar, Ananda, Ashtanga, and Hatha traditions. From October 2009- June 2010 we have an ashtanga teacher on staff who is teaching the traditional method of ashtanga yoga from Mysore, India. Because the ashtanga tradition is focused heavily on a student/teacher relationship, students are able to learn at their own pace. This makes Samana Chakra a great place to deepen your yoga practice whether you are brand new to yoga or have a firmly established yoga practice. For those people who are interested in making yoga an integral part of your visit to Samana Chakra, we can assist you with putting together a yoga workshop, just give us a call ahead of time.

Samana Chakra also offers a fabulous day spa, where you bring your aching body back to life with a hot stone massage or traditional Swedish massage with one of our excellent massage therapists.

Be sure to join us on Friday nights for our weekly “fogata” which is our giant bonfire on the beach. Watch the sun go down over the Pacific, and then sit around the cracking fire with good friends, good food, and great conversation.

We hope that your time in Máncora offers rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation, but we know that you need to be connected with the outside world, too. We offer free WI-FI for our guests throughout the hotel. We also have telephone services available with calling cards.

And while Máncora and the surrounding area offers some of the best surfing in Perú, we can add to your adventure with Spanish lessons so you can learn to speak like the locals. Or perhaps you might want to add to your culinary skills by joining Jen and Vanesa in the kitchen to learn local Peruvian favorites or ayurvedic cooking. And no trip to Máncora is complete with out a trip to the local mud baths, which are said to have healing and restorative powers.
