English is widely spoken and understood in P.N.G. The local people out on these islands are peaceful, relaxed and friendly.
The Nusa Islanders have their own local island community who are very similar to the Kavieng mainlanders.
They appreciate the fact the camp is helping the local community. Their hospitality will be one of the highlights of your holiday.
Other guest activities include: snorkeling/skin diving, estuary, reef and light game fishing, island nature walking paths, canoeing (traditional style), local cultural events, local markets, volleyball and table tennis or just kicking back and taking it easy between surfs.
Other activities that can be arranged include: scuba diving, mainland push-bikes, golf, visiting local carvers, shark calling (seasonal), mainland freshwater swimming holes and streams and adventure mountain trekking if you feel up to it.
The local community play volleyball most evenings (guests are more than welcome to join in). Many of the islanders are good guitar players and singers etc. who enjoy playing music for or with guests.
Food is innovative and upbeat and specialising in local seafood and vegetables. Your hosts being surfers realise the importance of fuelling the body for those long surf sessions.
Local and imported beer is available with prices for local beer being similar to what you pay in Australia. Soft drinks and bottled water is readily available.
When planning a trip to P.N.G., it is wise to take malaria precautions, whether they be standard western medicines or natural alternatives. Mozzies are not a real problem out on the Nusa Islands and there seem to be very few around the camp area.
