POPOYO SURF RESORT

Popoyo Surf Resort is located in Salinas, in Rivas Province, on a sprawling property of about 5 acres. Popoyo is located approximately 1/2 mile from the beach. Popoyo Surf Camp is hosted by expatriate Floridian surfer JJ Yemma, his wife Kimberly, their daughter Mikayla, dog Oso, spider monkey Carlos, cat Max, parrot Frodo, horses Gyan and Ganja and all the lovely critters that come with the jungle.

Popoyo Surf Resort is a one of a kind surf camp located in southern Nicaragua, along some of the world’s most pristine and virgin coastline. Their mission is to provide you with a surfing experience unique to any other. They offer a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, where you can surf incredible waves in a tranquil, friendly atmosphere. Included in every visit is great healthy food, good vibes and a chance to step back in time and appreciate all the simple finer things in life. The atmosphere at Popoyo is that of a mellow environment where surfers can relax, enjoy good company, and appreciate the sublime experience of surfing in small numbers and with friends along this remote Nicaraguan coast. Popoyo does not promote a party atmosphere and the nearest town with any nightlife is 1.5 hours away in San Juan del Sur. Evenings at Popoyo are quiet and surfers generally will retire a few hours after dinner with the goal of waking up clear and ready to charge the surf the next morning.

The Accommodations
New 1 bedroom Poolside Casitas:

The new Poolside Casitas are fully air-conditioned, and include a 2 full-size double beds, 1 twin bed, private bathroom, a sitting area, TV w/Direct TV feed, and mini-refrigerator stocked with water and sodas. Casitas are assigned to groups on a first come first serve basis. Bungalows will be assigned to singles or late booking groups.

The Bungalow
The bungalow has 3 individual units, two downstairs, one upstairs—all a/c, private bathroom w/ hot water, tile floors, fully screened-in, with three single beds in each room. Each room can sleep a maximum of three people. The accommodation is basic but very comfortable and adequate for surfers looking to rest their muscles and bones after a hard, honest day of surfing.

The Facilities

Main Rancho:
This is where all meals and beverages are served.

The Food: 3 squares Prepared by Chef Jeff Tome & staff:
Breakfast - Your choice: Rice & beans with eggs, rancho omelet or pancakes.
Lunch & Dinner - Chicken, pork, or veggie plate with rice & beans and salad or hamburger and fries, fresh fish, pizza, pasta dishes & the occasional specials.

The Beverages:
Include coffee/tea, sodas, bottled water, and juices. All non-alcoholic drinks are included in the package cost. Cold beer sold at resort prices. (BYO liquor).

The Lounge:
The new fully air-conditioned lounge has a huge sitting area, TV, Direct TV feed, DVD feed, and a HUGE collection of surf videos. There is also a ping pong table, and new POOL TABLE. Evenings at Popoyo are spent filling up on hearty foods, relaxing among friends, recounting the day's many waves and experiences, and rejuvenating the body, mind and soul for yet another action
filled day in the waves.
